Extra pages - absolute link references

I'm a newbie

I have version 7.01 and am trying to follow Dave Freeman's procedure of using the TNG history template to create extra pages (http://www.tngforum.us/index.php?showtopic=2236&hl=extra+pagesI) .

I don't understand the instruction in respect of converting relative links to absolute links.

Could somebody tell me which lines and which files need to be altered. How should the links be altered?

Thanks

HE

HE,

Take a look at the TNG Wiki Getting Started Guide article User Pages - Getting Started Most of the TNG 7.0 templates were updated to use $cms[tngpath] but a couple were not, so if you would indicate which template you are using more precise instructions can be provided.

Hi Ken,

PS The extra page - Neuaddwen Clan - in the Home Page does not appear quite the same as the template. The site address is: www.achau.co.uk

Huw,

Attached is a revised topmenu.php file for template 4, see if that resolves the template look and feel issue.

Ken,

Many thanks.

I've uploaded the template as topmenu.php, however, the 'Neuaddwen' page still doesn't match the template.

Huw,

I think the other piece you are missing is the meta.php. Go to Admin >> Setup >> Configuration >> General Settings and then expand Site Design and update Custom Met to use meta.php If the meta.php file is not in your TNG install directory copy it from the specials folder that was provided as part of the upgrade.

Ken,

Brilliant, it's working. I'm not sure what you've actually done - something to do with inserting absolute links which were not present in template 4 of Version 7 - but thanks very much.

Huw,

The file I attached is the one I also sent to Darrin to use the TNG $cms[tngpath] variable to find the path where the TNG files are installed. While this variable was originally designed to support the CMS environments, the historytemplate.php takes advantage of it and sets the $cms[tngpath] = "../" which means one folder below the TNG install directory.

Using the variable eliminates the need for the users to have to edit their files to set the path as absolute. Likewise the meta.php file provided with TNG 7.0 uses the same variable to find the style sheets.

Glad to hear that it resolved the problem for you.
